UGC Engineer

About the role

We're a US-based AI app studio building consumer mobile products. Our flagship product, Wellspoken, is live on iOS and Android, profitable, and growing quickly. We're also building our second app.

UGC is one of our most important growth channels. We work with a network of creators producing short-form content across TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms, and the core infrastructure is already in place: creators, briefs, content review, tracking, and payments.

Now we want someone who can make the system materially better over time.

We call this role UGC Engineer because it goes beyond creator management. You'll be responsible for understanding why content works, diagnosing why it doesn't, improving creators, developing better formats, and continuously finding ways to make the program more effective.

There often won't be an obvious answer. That's a big part of the job.

Own creator performance

  • Source and evaluate creators who can produce compelling short-form content.
  • Identify who is genuinely strong on camera and who has the potential to get there.
  • Review creator submissions and give specific, actionable feedback.
  • Coach creators on delivery, hooks, pacing, scripting, editing, and overall execution.
  • Make sure creators follow briefs, apply feedback, and consistently hit posting expectations.
  • Identify when a creator should be coached, tested differently, or replaced.

Develop and improve formats

  • Research high-performing content across TikTok, Instagram, adjacent niches, and other consumer apps.
  • Turn promising ideas into formats, scripts, hooks, and creator briefs.
  • Explore new creative directions while the formats that already work are still working.
  • Iterate aggressively when something shows promise.
  • Think deeply about the tradeoff between virality and conversion.
  • Figure out how to integrate the product so the content still earns the watch on its own.

Solve ambiguous performance problems

A big part of this role is figuring out things nobody has a clean answer to yet. For example: a creator had several breakout videos, and now their last 20 posts are underperforming despite similar execution.

Is it the creator? The account? The format? Audience fatigue? The hook? Something else?

You'll be expected to break a problem like that into plausible explanations, separate what we know from what we're guessing, design practical tests, learn from the results, and decide what to try next.

We expect you to keep pushing until we understand the problem better than we did yesterday.

Build a learning system

  • Track what works and what falls flat across creators and formats.
  • Document experiments and conclusions so the team compounds knowledge over time.
  • Identify patterns across creators, hooks, formats, product integrations, and platforms.
  • Make sure we're meaningfully smarter about UGC a month from now than we are today.

Keep the machine running

  • Manage creator pipelines and ongoing relationships.
  • Coordinate briefs, content reviews, posting cadence, and payments.
  • Track creator performance and campaign economics.
  • Improve processes and automation as the program scales.

What we're looking for

We care more about how you think than about a traditional background. You're likely a strong fit if:

  • You have experience in UGC, creator marketing, social media, growth, content, or a similar field.
  • You have strong judgment about short-form content and what makes someone compelling on camera.
  • You understand TikTok, Instagram Reels, and internet-native content.
  • You're extremely organized and comfortable managing many creators at once.
  • You notice details other people miss.
  • You give clear feedback and hold creators to a high bar.
  • You're comfortable making decisions on incomplete or noisy data.

Most importantly, you enjoy ambiguous problems

When something stops working and there's no obvious playbook, your instinct is to dig into it. You form hypotheses. You test things. You learn. You try again.

You decide what to try next on your own, and you read a setback as information about where to look. You're confident you can make progress while the final answer is still out of reach.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary, set on your experience and what you've run before.
  • Performance-based bonus tied to how the program does.
  • Remote, anywhere in the US.
